YMU MENTORS
"Most people who desire success focus almost entirely on themselves, not others, when they start to make the journey. They usually think in terms of what they can get--in position, power, prestige, money, and perks. However, I don't believe that's the way to truly achieve success. As Douglas M. Lawson so eloquently stated, 'We exist temporarily through what we take, but we live forever through what we give.' The gift of time through the mentoring process is one of the most essential gifts a young person can receive."

Our Mentorship Model
Young Men United focuses on career growth through a personal connection. One of the many ways we facilitate healthy and intentional growth is by providing professional mentors for each student. These mentors are sources of wisdom to help our Fellows through the unique challenges they face in school, in the community, and beyond. Many of our mentor/mentee connections lead to continued professional connections and relationships once they are in the workforce, and our city benefits greatly from these connections as we establish legacies and intergenerational exchange.
